The Social Affairs branch of SLS is the overarching organization that manages the social lifeblood of the school. In addition to planning weekly pub nights, coffee houses, and Law Ball, the student affairs committee also oversees funding for all student groups at the law school. The SLS Social Affairs Committee will meet every Wednesday at 12:30 in the SLS office. All students are welcome to attend and participate in all meetings. Tentative agendas will be posted in each week’s SLS Weekly.
If you are a student group representative or if you would like to get a student group off the ground, feel free to contact any member of the Social Affairs committee and they will get you on your way.
Meet your Social 2019-20:
Del zamparo, Vice President Social – 2L
Delana completed her undergraduate degree in criminology at both the University of Ottawa and University of Western Ontario. She grew up in Vaughan, just outside of Toronto (which makes her very sympathetic to commuters!). During her undergrad, she was a member of the Pre-Law Society and Outreach Team, tasked with the planning of a variety of law-related events such as mock trials, networking events, and a variety of philanthropic initiatives. She operates a swim school during the summer and spends her time managing an amazing team of employees as well as teaching a variety of swimming and first-aid courses. She is looking forward to an amazing first year at U of T law!
Celina grew up in Edmonton, Alberta before going to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska to earn a B.A. in accounting. In her third year, she transferred to Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia to finish her degree. She played varsity soccer at both schools and joined a sorority at Oglethorpe where she was heavily involved with philanthropy events and other event planning. She is now at U of T pursuing her JD with interests in business and international law.
Celina hopes to help people make the most of their law school experience by planning fun events that students will remember long after graduating from U of T.
Zarin grew up in Ottawa, Ontario before attending the University of Toronto to complete her undergraduate degree in psychology, global health, and environmental studies (there were too many good programs to not take them all!). During undergrad she was a member of her residence’s social committee, an Orientation Leader and an Outreach Executive, where she was responsible for organizing and implementing a variety of philanthropic and social activities in addition to team building and peer support programs. On her year off, she worked as a research assistant and social media manager in the psychiatry department at St. Michael’s Hospital. In addition to her role in the SLS, she is also a member of the LAWS program, a peer mentorship group to high school students in the Toronto region. She is super excited about planning fun activities for the law school to make this year a truly unforgettable one!
